Reset Data Structure

Because PsychData is designed to protect the integrity of collected data, certain edits to your survey may impact its default data structure. If this is the case, you will see a warning on the Data page for impcted surveys and a README.TXT file will be included in all data downloads. The following edits may result in a data warning:

• Answer edits: adding, reordering, or hiding existing answers
• Question edits: hiding an existing question

The Reset Data Structure feature will:

1. Re-standardize answer-values (answer data value = answer order)
2. Permanently delete all hidden questions and answers
3. Remove the data alert

WARNING: The Reset Data Structure action is permanent and cannot be undone.

WARNING: This feature may make new survey data incompatible with previous downloads. In the example below, the answer value “1” equals “Red” in previous downloads and “Yellow” in subsequent downloads.

WARNING:All data will be deleted when running this feature.

EXAMPLE

The example below illustrates: (1) standardized answer values on creation, (2) edited non-standardized answer values, and (3) re-standardized values:

(1) Standardized Answer Values:

In the above example, the Reset Data Structure feature will:

• Permanently remove the answer “green”
• Set the answer value for Yellow to "1" matching its Answer Order
